Living like a vampire...
After an eyes exam, the medic discovered a possible glaucoma principle by inherited genetic factor.
This is also the main reason why I'm not productive anymore even cause I can't stay no more than 30 minutes on whatever monitor or, at least, 1H max. in front of a common LCD TV. My eyes become very sensitive to video refresh rates by the time I'm writing this post (the more the refresh is low, the more my corneas suffers due to a possible blood pressure factor) and also fluorescent/unnatural lights (impossible to me if I have to drive during the nights) are really painful to me.
So, my personal goal is to preserve my health getting a small chance for having an eyes surgery in order to stabilize my sight with a pair of comfortable, specific corrected glasses' lens.
I have to do a pair of exams, the first one is for a specific thing called "computerized sight field exam" then the second check up for having the final, important response for my eventual surgery correction.
I must take a long pause with my career as digital illustrator for health reasons. My eyes are in danger and I'll prepare myself to eventually get into another different, professional path in order to live a decent life for the next 20-25 years. Is very hard to find a job anyway due to an incredible (positive by the way) market competition that almost raises into crazy phases.
In conclusion, I have to respect my health as main priority and I'm confident that all the people who read this will certainly understand that.
Thinking positive!
Love you all,
- Carlo

Ghigi & Zimbabwe
Ghigi Italian pasta industry and Caritas organization provides delicious rigatoni and tomatoes dishes for Zimbabwe children.
Helping is great but I still ask why governments doesn't work for their respective people? In this particular case, also, when exactly the western forces will stop to increase economical advantages from Africa, leaving them into miserable, colonized conditions?
White people are dogs that, in a continuous circling, bite their own tail. Black people and all the rest of disadvantage ethnicity still stand behind them, starving and staring into nothingness. If western culture, represented by the majority that lead the economical power, will never wake up and stop to be suggested by lies, we will never succeed building a better world but maybe other worlds will be created due to our destructible attitude that, like a tumor, will takes over our own vital cells.
For this occasion, enjoy "staring into the nothingness" performed by Solar Fields:

Freelancer.com? No thanks...
I'm from about a week inside freelancer.com system. Apparently very interesting, attractive and full of potential (maybe very useful for few professional figures for sure but not for people like me) and for that, I discover issues just after 2 days.
The procedure to complete your professional profile is easy and the way the system suggest to you to "cover" all the information by simple click tours guarantee your internal level of experience (another bullshit that doesn't prove nothing) from 1 to 9.
The bad news comes when you try to gain some perks through the exam system in order to appear more reliable to the lazy employers. First three are free (practice, freelancer orientation and employer orientation) the rest of them needs a ticket payment but nobody explain that you can attend only once; if you fail, you have to pay for another ticket. I contested that to the company refusing to pay the last ticket (cause I fail the last exam under payment with no second chance to attend again) after a substantial payment of three ticket for three exams, all succeeded.
They have a customer service that is a total failure because they have the power to get limited any account under disputes with the result that is impossible to manage your money gained inside the freelancer.com circuit. Basically I can't withdraw my money from there to PayPal circuit. So, I simply decided to seek employers inside that system with the hope to build professional appointment outside, via Skype call, e-mails you know.
Obviously I'm on the basic account which is free but doesn't give you any warranty to gain something after the first 24 hours. It's almost impossible, indeed. If you don't keep to bid on projects posted by the employers, chances of work won't increase so you are in the middle of two higher flames. The bid system is a disaster. You seek a whatever job proposal (which can quietly be a big fake, scam) posted by the employer, meanwhile 10+ freelancers with more advantages of you (and probably previous agreements taken outside the system) already accomplished to the offer and start to produce. Few, very few employers are polite and respond almost instantly to your private message but the majority of them, simply, ignores you.
A job is a job. It can't have a sort of management close to Ebay where you have a simple situation between buyers and sellers. You can't apply this between employees and employers.
My last (and final) report to Freelancer.com customer service:
"The dispute amount will be reinstated (as it was allocated as exam fee) when I will gain money here from my first commission, even because your system is reliable only for who manage, not for who seek job opportunities. Freelancers aren't protected here by concrete contracts. In the other hand, employers doesn't have confidence to our category cause they are psychologically limited by the marketing of your website itself. I'm very good to discover holes as I said before: there is a big black one here. Over&out."
Where is the contract, after all?
This is the case of Carl Hayes, an Australian employer, that today had completely erased his post and I was the only one attended for the job proposal. He posted a .jpg file sample that basically was the guideline for his project. I followed and in less than 24 hours I succeed for the first draft. Meanwhile, no response at all.
This morning, I woke up, I found his post erased (previously notified by freelancer.com through a direct e-mail) and no fucking way of response.
Now, I want that this episode should be a monolith for the other smart asses that wants to do the same to me, a reminder that I'm a professionist like everyone else, serious, gentle, polite and all the rest but... If you only try to think to don't respect what I do, I simply drop an hand grenade in your ass with the trigger already pulled off!

Let's dance, go orange!
Since 1999, when I tried my first linux live cd (a Mandrake distro) on an old Pentium 133Mhz with 32Mb of ram and just 4Mb of video memory (what the f...!), I definitely kept an extra eye on this wonderful universe.
Many things has changed since that day and, today I guess, we have enough improvements to start thinking about a real and reliable alternative to the actual Microsoft and Apple monopoly.
It happens that you remind of some good old advices from your friends in the latest years, still keeping in mind and enforcing that personal though about the wonderful linux community (programmers, users) that isn't just a though but a concrete reality.
It happens also, simply, that you can find your own resources (suddenly) weak and you can't afford to spent too much money for "ordinary" upgrades such a brand new iMac or worst, an high-level pc with an expansive Windows license.
So, I decided to growth in a parallel path in order to have an effective alternative solution when (and if) things will going to radically change inside digital development.
I've studied marketing basics, mechanics basically for almost an entire year in New York beside the language itself and sporadic job's experiences in graphic design. Having the best human resources in that segment that I could ever have in my own proportioned economical conditions, had just simply turned myself in collecting opportunities learning something useful.
Marketing to me isn't just an instrument to get profit but, mainly, a language to speak (and understand) in order to effectively see what happen inside the companies, making a solid comparison with what they deliver to the market and if is aligned with the promises (promises are just words, not facts) they claim.
I asked to myself: what happen inside Apple in this moment?
Well, apparently, it seems to be hard to find out but it isn't so for a couple of two simple reasons.
The first one is about the concept itself that lead all the private companies: their own priorities that must be overlapped with the profit. So, basically, we see two groups of software (that makes the OS appetitive and more efficient than ordinary days) divided in closed source and open source. Closed source software is pretty much linear with the commercial OS nature itself, easy to recognize and always under license payment. Everything developed is under a private label managed by private employee that can't get out of the box (be fired is the only way). Open source software is basically the ideal setting, environment, for all the programmers that must provide something to the users, customers. They can choose when and with who start, subsequently taking final decisions about the final purposes that could be completely free to users or commercial (with more competitive prices of course) like the majority of us is usually intended to drive into (not to be, there is a big difference, ask to Philip Dick for more info). And, if someone of them decide to be independent from the original project, founding a new team, starting from the same source code used in the previous...he/she can! One of the finest example is in the actual issue between Open Office and Libre Office. Both of them are open source but Libre Office exist cause the team that is in it was previously in Open Office and they simply got different opinions so they decide to split and keep going their separate development that will growth into two parallels, positive realities anyway.
The second point is about the equilibrium that is generated by the attitudes above. My opinion is that is strictly required, I mean, open and closed source can't live without one each other cause you are going to destroy the economy pillar where the whole shoot is based.
So, is it important to have as many alternative as possible in the ordinary digital world? The answer is YES, it is! Cause you kill the monopoly that is the 2nd worst enemy for the economy itself (that's why, we partially got a global recession too). And Apple with the brand new iMacs is in danger. The majority of the customers doesn't seems to really understand that, so Apple is safe, for now. The Apple marketing office is very able and is managing an entire vital area that could explode generating an opportunity to learn and grow more than ever (even for them). A chance that must be considered from the linux developers community in order to standardize their OS distro as Microsoft and Apple had done in the past without the necessary gamers community expedient that some people think necessary (see also Steam community).
In the end, one of the worst examples about non-uniform standardization on Ubuntu distro is the keyboard command "ALT+Left mouse" that should be erased or replaced with another combination that doesn't get conflicts to the vital functions inside Photoshop&co. In my opinion, "ALT+L" is pointless cause we still hold "L" then drag windows/objects in the exactly Win&Mac way. My feeling is that someone got this brilliant solution just because they have to make a statement about "we are different and unique". A statement in a moronic way for sure!
Well, I'll go orange for now (which is also one of my favourite colours) and as all the human beings usually does, I'll prepare myself to the alternative choice, avoiding to close my mind, as always I tried to do.
Peace,
Carlo

PS The illustration above was developed, as a general protest against Adobe commercial decisions and to the pointless presumable directives against Wine team by Adobe itself, under Linux Ubuntu 12.04.1 x64 environment with Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 and Adobe Photoshop 9.0.2 through Wine utility (actual build: 1.5.18). For Christ's Sake guys, let's stop to beat around the bush, make those top-software native for linux and make another significant stop to Microsoft and Apple's racket!!
